The Story:
For 15 years I cruised and traveled through the Bahamas exploring the Out Islands. So many wonderful people I met and sights I saw. The Abacos, Marsh Harbour, Elbow Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Guana Cay, Man O' War Cay, The Exumas, Stocking Island, Nassau, Chub Cay and Southward.
This painting is a view inside of Albury's Sail Shop prior to hurricane Dorian. If you have ever had the good fortune to have visited this island, its people and The Sail Shop, you have been lucky enough! The local women are talking amongst themselves and sewing bright colored canvas bags, totes, backpacks and shower bags. They rarely look at what they are sewing as they have made so many bags that conversation is more interesting on this dry island. They also do not have modern cash registers and add your sales ticket by hand.
